Special Recognition for Alanta, apprentice at the NOC

This article is more than five years old.

Alanta Hissey-Powell is an Apprentice Nursing Assistant on the Orthopaedic Short Stay Unit at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.

On 24 April 2018, Alanta won the Special Recognition Award at the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards.

Alanta chose an apprenticeship to gain more experience in the working environment of a hospital.

She says:

"I am doing something which I enjoy and feel passionate about. I am so surprised and amazed that I have won this award... Getting the award isn't just about winning, it's about how far I have grown in the last year, and the opportunities I have had due to the apprenticeship and my workplace.

"Without the support of everyone I wouldn't have been able to succeed as much as I have. Never give up on your ambitions."

Heather Talbot, Deputy Matron for the Orthopaedic Short Stay Unit, says:

"I am so proud of how Alanta has developed over the last year... Alanta has showed true determination to finish her apprenticeship and winning this award just reflects how far she has come. Well done Alanta!"

We are all proud of Alanta, and of all our wonderful apprentices and our Apprenticeship Team.
