Well-deserved recognition for our unsung hero

This article is more than six years old.

Alina Tagg is the Procurement Manager for the Division of Neurosciences, Orthopaedics, Trauma and Specialist Surgery - one of the largest of the clinical Divisions within Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

She is respected across the procurement community for her in-depth product knowledge and attention to detail.

Faced with constant cost improvement and financial targets, at what is a challenging time for the Trust and the NHS as a whole, Alina shows professionalism and leadership, with the goal of achieving the best quality patient care possible, even within financial constraints.

In November 2017 two of her colleagues at the Trust, Jane Edwards (Deputy Director of Procurement and Supply Chain) and Sarah Stephenson (Lead Nurse, Practice Development and Education) nominated Alina for a 2018 NHS Unsung Hero Award, and were delighted when she was shortlisted from over 1,100 nominees.

Jane says:

"Our non-clinical staff rarely receive the recognition they deserve, and it is so great to see Alina recognised for all her amazing work and dedication. Equally all three of us felt it would be good to inspire others in the organisation to nominate colleagues for next year's awards."
