This article is more than five years old.

Geoff Salt, Vice Chairman and Non-executive Director of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has paid tribute to staff as he announces his decision to resign from his position for personal reasons with immediate effect.

He has served on the Trust Board since 2009.

Geoff said: "After more than nine years on the Trust Board, this has been a difficult and hard-thought decision for me but I am convinced that it is the right one.

"As I have often said but sincerely repeat, it has been a real and treasured privilege to have had the opportunity to meet so many of our dedicated staff right across the Trust, both to appreciate their evident pride in their work and to seek to build the important relationship from Ward to Board.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed the challenges and changes but, most of all, the opportunity to develop relationships with my colleagues, our staff, governors, supporters and stakeholders over a sustained period."

In a message to staff today (Wednesday 19 September 2018), Trust Chairman Dame Fiona Caldicott, said: "Geoff will be well known to many of you because of his passion for meeting staff and for spending as much time as possible listening to and learning from you.

"I am sure you will join with me in thanking Geoff for the huge contribution he has made to OUH and for the way in which he has wholeheartedly thrown himself into the roles of Vice Chairman and Non-executive Director."

The processes of appointing a Non-executive Director to replace Geoff on the Board, as well as a new Vice Chairman from among the existing Non-executive Directors on the Board, will commence promptly.

Both appointments are the responsibility of our Council of Governors which includes elected representatives of staff and the public, as well as nominated representatives of key stakeholder organisations.
