Sonia Apankar wins CNO Health Care Support Worker Award

This article is more than one year old.

We're beyond delighted that Sonia Apankar, Healthcare Support Worker in Oxford Critical Care, has received an NHS England Chief Nursing Officer Healthcare Support Worker Award.

The award recognises the vital role she holds in the healthcare team, and the excellent contribution she makes in supporting her colleagues.

The award criteria are based around the NHS values of working together for patients, respect and dignity, commitment to quality of care, compassion, improving lives and everyone counts.

Sonia was nominated by Clare Morris, Oxford Critical Care Unit Manager at the time, in recognition of her dedication and commitment to the NHS and all its patients, and for exceeding the values expected of a healthcare employee.

Clare said:

"Sonia works within the team well to provide non-judgmental, respectful and excellent care. She is hardworking and always wants to do the job to the best of her ability. She really is an asset to our team, the Trust and the NHS."

Alexia Douglass, Deputy Matron, Oxford Critical Care, said:

"Sonia is a fantastic asset to the OCC team. She is wonderfully compassionate with all patients and relatives, always seeking to learn and develop, is extremely professional and is a lovely person to be around! Sonia works so hard, and we look forward to helping Sonia develop further in her caring career."

Sonia received a personal message from the South East NHS England Regional Workforce Team, which thanked her for all her hard work, and there will be a special badge to follow.

Fiona Moseley, Senior Sister and Unit Manager, Oxford Critical Care, wrote in an email to Sonia and her colleagues:

"Sonia, you are the most caring and compassionate person. You go above and beyond to support your colleagues and we are very lucky to have you as part of our team. We recognise and appreciate all of your hard work. THANK YOU!"
