Dr Sumit Das voted full member of European Society of Craniofacial Surgery

This article is more than one year old.

Dr Sumit Das, Oxford Craniofacial Unit's Specialist Paediatric Anaesthetist, has become the first anaesthetist to be voted a full member of the European Society of Craniofacial Surgery.

The vote took place at a meeting of the Society held in Oxford on 23 and 24 September 2022.

This is a tremendous accolade, and a recognition of the vital role that anaesthetists play in this very specialised field.

Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetists perform the anaesthetic for children undergoing craniofacial surgery. They meet the child's parents/carers before the operation to explain the anaesthetic, and make plans for post-operative pain relief and care on the High Dependency Unit.

David Johnson, President of the ESCFS 2018 - 2022, said:

"Sumit Das is an internationally recognised paediatric craniofacial anaesthetist. He has published and lectured widely on craniofacial anaesthesia and has attended and contributed to national and international craniofacial meetings for many years. It is entirely appropriate that he has now been accepted as the first anaesthetist to be a full member of the European Society of Craniofacial Surgery."

Congratulations to Dr Das from the Oxford Craniofacial Unit team and all the staff of Oxford University Hospitals.
