David Walliker has been appointed to the new role of Chief Digital and Partnership Officer. He will take up the role at the end of October 2019.

David's career in Information Technology began in the commercial sector. He then joined Cheshire and Wirral Partnership Foundation Trust in 2004 as Head of Informatics.

After working as National ICT Manager for the Welsh Ambulance Service, David was appointed Chief Information Officer to Liverpool Women's Hospital in 2013 and in 2015 took on the additional responsibility of covering the same role for the Royal Liverpool Hospital.

Dr Bruno Holthof, Chief Executive Officer said: "I am delighted David will be bringing his expertise to help us transform and improve services within the Trust through the application of digital technology as well as looking at our future needs and how digital can help deliver them. David brings a wealth of relevant experience and will be a valuable addition to our Board."

David will be the Trust lead on developing integrated partnerships, in particular with the Oxfordshire place based system, the BOB integrated care system and the Thames Valley Cancer Alliance. These partnerships will require a digital infrastructure to support the collaboration and David will lead on the Trust's participation in the Local Health and Care Records Exemplar programme.

David Walliker said: "I am looking forward to starting my new role at Oxford University Hospitals in October. The Trust is already doing a lot of work to transform the way it interacts with patients, the public and internally to go digital, but there is so much more we can do. It is an exciting area of work with huge possibilities. I am also joining at a really important point for the Trust in terms of partnership working as the Trust works on refreshing its strategy and deepening its partnership working with other health and social care providers and engaging with local communities."

The Director of Strategy will also report to David and the Trust will appoint into this role as soon as possible now that Kathy Hall, Director of Strategy has announced that she is returning to the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) on Monday 30 September 2019.

Kathy will be taking up a new post as Director of Technology and Data Strategy at NHSX, a new joint unit set up by the Secretary of State, bringing together expertise from DHSC, NHS England and NHS Improvement to lead on digital and technology transformation.
