Radio Horton calls for 'Your Horton Memories'

25/06/2018
This article is more than five years old.

On Thursday 5 July 2018 the NHS is celebrating its 70th birthday.

With events taking place at hospitals across the UK, Banbury's hospital radio station Radio Horton is marking the occasion with a series of broadcasts called 'Your Horton Memories'.

They are calling for the help of the Banbury community, as well as current and former Horton staff and volunteers, to share their memories on air and contribute to the station's website.

If you have any Horton memories for broadcast, or photographs for publication on their website, Radio Horton would love to hear from you. Perhaps you also have memorabilia or artefacts to share?

If you would be interested in taking part, please contact Radio Horton at nhs70@radiohorton.co.uk

The NHS was launched on 5 July 1948 by Aneurin Bevan at Park Hospital in Manchester (better known today as Trafford General Hospital).

Banbury's Horton General Hospital is quite a bit older - opening (with just 12 beds) as the Horton Infirmary on 17 July 1872, almost 146 years ago. There is more on the history of the Horton here:

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is celebrating the 70th birthday of the NHS with a series of events, full details of which can be found at:
