Banbury's hospital radio station has started 2018 in style with the announcement of a nomination in the Best Special Event category at the prestigious annual National Hospital Radio Awards for its coverage of Fairport’s Cropredy Convention.

Now in its 41st year, Fairport’s Cropredy Convention saw a variety of performances including headliners, The Divine Comedy, Richard Thompson and Petula Clark.

The station was delighted to have the privilege of bringing content and exclusive interviews from one of the country's most respected folk festivals to patients in the Horton General Hospital.

Radio Horton's coverage of the weekend took significant planning and preparation and involved a team of volunteers from the station to bring a taste of Cropredy to those unable to be there.

Radio Horton volunteer Lisa Simmons said: "It was a privilege for Radio Horton to have backstage access - a first for the station, which helped give the patients at the hospital a unique insight into the event."

Radio Horton is sincerely grateful to the organisers of Fairport's Cropredy Convention for their hospitality, and hopes to attend the festival in future years.
