The Oxford Genetics Laboratories comprise two closely integrated laboratories, the Molecular Genetics Laboratory and the Cytogenetics Laboratory.
Molecular geneticists investigate specific diseases at the gene level by analysing the DNA. Cytogeneticists use a full spectrum of cytogenetic and molecular cytogenetic investigations to screen for constitutional and acquired chromosome abnormalities.
The laboratories offer a regional service and test patients from Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and parts of Northamptonshire and Wiltshire. Both laboratories work in close collaboration with clinicians from a range of specialties including clinical genetics, paediatrics, obstetrics, haematology and neurology.
The Molecular Genetics Laboratory also provides a national and international service for a number of specialist disease areas.
The service is UKAS accredited to ISO15189:2012. Please click below to view the complete schedule of accredited service offered by this laboratory.
