Referring via e-Referral

Use e-Referral for:

  • Routine patients: these should always be referred via the e-Referral system.
  • Urgent patients: all patients should be referred via e-Referral, including 2 Week Wait.

2 Week Wait patients

If the GP is suspicious that a patient has breast cancer the patient should be referred to the 2 Week Wait Bureau via e-Referral.

When referring 2 Week Wait patients via e-Referral, please select 2 Week Wait for the specialty, not Surgery - Breast (breast surgery is currently the only specialty that 2 Week Wait referrals go through e-Referral).

All referrals are triaged to ensure they are booked into the most appropriate clinic as soon as possible.

Usually patients under the age of 30 will not be accepted under the 2 Week Wait system.
