How we asssess patients

Physotherapy (Tier 2 assessment)

Your GP will recommend a Tier 2 assessment of your hip. Currently in the NHS that means seeing a specialist physiotherapist at a local hospital. Physiotherapists are usually the first to diagnose the hip condition.

Clinical assessment by surgeon

A doctor who specialises in hips will assess the problematic hip.

This appointment investigates the problematic hip in more detail, such as an x-ray or MRI scan. Based on this investigation the doctor will recommend surgery or physiotherapy.

Repeat appointment/surgery

At this stage you would either have surgery performed on your hip or have regular visits with a physiotherapist over a certain time period.
